It has been almost 2 years since the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired. Fans have waited anxiously for the season 2 release date announcement and finally, a release date window has been revealed.
A new promotional video for the second season of the anime adaptation of Gege Akutami’s manga Jujutsu Kaisen was shown at the Jump Festa 2023 event. The trailer confirms that season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen will release in July 2023. Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is titled “Jujutsu Kaisen: Kaigyoku and Gyokusetsu / Shibuya Incident Arc.”
Season 2 will consist of 2 consecutive cours (cour refers to an anime season, which has a duration of 3 months). Although the number of episodes for season 2 is yet to be officially announced, Fans could expect more than 20 episodes, since the series will air for six months.
The new trailer is focused on the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu Arc (Stellar Plasma Vessel Arc)” and the first scene shows us the parting between Suguru Geto and Gojo, which was also teased at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen movie 0.
Special Message From The Author
Jump Festa 2023 was also attended by the voice cast of Jujutsu Kaisen, and a special message was shared by the author Gege Akutami. The author revealed that the story will come to an end within a year, however, it is still unknown whether Gege Akutami was talking about the ongoing arc, or the manga itself. In a previous interview, which was published in 2021, Gege Akutami revealed that the manga will end in 2023.

In March 2018, Gege Akutami began publishing the manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The first season of the anime adaptation consisted of twenty-four episodes and aired from October to December 2022. A prequel movie titled “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” premiered in Japanese theatres on December 24, 2021.
