Characters in the anime style are featured in a limited-time mystery-themed addition to the traditional Disneyland attraction.
Nowadays, almost every attraction added to Disney's theme parks is connected to an established film or animation franchise. It wasn't always this way however, leaving some of the classic Disneyland rides with little in the way of a clear background.
This winter, Tokyo Disneyland is planning to add additional narrative interest to some of its most beloved attractions. It's going to start with offering the Haunted Mansion the characters of anime-inspired designs.
The Haunted Mansion, which has been a part of Tokyo Disneyland since the park's opening in 1983, is now in the spotlight during the inaugural phase of the Disney Story Beyond campaign. The event will see participants will be challenged to solve a unique problem involving the characters such as Constance who is a gorgeous woman wearing a wedding gown with a strong ambition and numerous strings of pearls hanging around her neck and Xavier and Z.J., maid and butler employed by the mansion, which is home to the ghosts of 999.
With a more festive look are tightrope walkers Sally Slater and ballroom dancers Marylyn Ohara and Harland who could or might not be living...
...while passengers Phineas, Ezra and Gus and the person known by the name "The Withering Gentleman" are certainly not normal human beings.
In addition to solving mysteries guests will also be able take pictures with the characters using an AR smartphone application and the latest Haunted Mansion merchandise will be available for purchase during the event.
Details of the story are not yet available however, the Disney Story Beyond Haunted Mansion theme is scheduled to be released between January 26 until March 31. If you're looking for a less frightening scenario of American pop culture being mixed with anime The new anime-inspired Tom Jerry and Jerry are incredibly cute without being a supernatural.
